Woods and Forests In Northamptonshire
Being nestled in the country side means we have loads of beautiful woods and forests in Northamptonshire. These are great places for getting the family out in the fresh air, connecting with nature and burning off some energy! Some are also ideal locations for a family photoshoot!

Evenley Wood
Brackley, NN13 5SH
Evenley wood is a 60 acre, privately owned woodland. It features a café, toilets and various shelters through the gardens.

Rockingham Forest
Rockingham Forest is split into 3 different nature reserves;
- Glapthorn Cow Patures – Includes trails that are wide and fairly level but can become muddy. Unsuitable for wheelchairs
- Short Wood and Southwick Wood – Includes trails that are wide and fairly level but can become muddy. Unsuitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Features carpets of bluebells in Spring
- Old Sulehay – Main trail is surfaced in woodland though other paths can get muddy. Quarry has uneven paths and steep slopes.

Delapre Abbey
The abbey itself is surrounded by beautiful gardens. There is a café, restaurant, toilets and a gift shop. Head down past the gardens and you will discover a lake and woodland.

Badby Woods
Chapel Ln, Badby, Daventry NN11 3AU
A smaller woodland. It doesn’t have toilets or a café but is well known for it’s beautiful bluebell displays.
Salcey Forest & Fineshade Woods
Salcey Forest: Wootton Road, Northamptonshire, NN7 2HX
Fineshade Woods: Forestry England Visitor Centre, Fineshade, Corby NN17 3BB
Salcey Forest and Fineshade Woods both feature their very own Gruffalo trail, stick man trail, Wallace & Gromit trails, cycling trails, a café, toilets, play area and picnic areas.
Salcey Forest also has a Gruffalo orienteering course, Go Ape tree top adventure, disc golf, forest play boxes, table tennis and you are able to horse ride
Fineshade Wood has Gruffalo sculptures, a 5k running trail, feel good/ forest activity bags
Harlstone Firs
44 Harlestone Rd, Northampton NN7 4EW
Harlstone Firs is a 300 acre pine woodland with various public footpaths and bridleways. There are no toilets or cafes here.
