The Magic Faraway Tree Trail Is Coming to Lamport Hall This Summer

Lamport Hall & Gardens is running a brand new spotter trail this summer, inspired by Enid Blyton’s Magic Faraway Tree stories, and it sounds like exactly the kind of thing that keeps kids entertained without you having to plan a thing.

What Is the Magic Faraway Tree Trail?

The Magic Faraway Tree Trail is a free spotter trail created by Kids in Museums and Blyton Books, celebrating Enid Blyton’s much-loved book series. With the story having recently been turned into a big family film, it’s a great time to get children exploring the different magical lands from the books, brought to life around the grounds of Lamport Hall.

Each stop on the trail takes families to a different world from the books, from the Land of Topsy Turvy to the Land of Presents. Along the way there are drawing and writing activities, plus prompts to get the whole family chatting about what you’ve spotted. Complete the activity sheet and children get a Magic Faraway Tree Museum Adventure sticker to take home.

There’s also a drawing competition running alongside the trail. Children can share their artwork on Instagram or BlueSky using the hashtag #MFTAdventure and tagging @kidsinmuseums for a chance to win prizes, including a Double National Art Pass Plus Kids from Art Fund and an Enid Blyton book bundle.

Tickets and Admission

The trail itself is free to take part in, but a garden ticket is needed for all accompanying adults and children over 11 — under 11s go free. Dogs on leads are welcome too, if you fancy bringing the family pet along for the walk.

One nice touch: all full-price tickets are automatically upgraded to an annual pass, so you can come back as many times as you like for free once you’ve paid for your first visit. Historic Houses members get in free, and Gardener’s World 2-for-1 entry is also accepted.

If you already hold a Historic Houses membership, this is a lovely freebie to add to your summer plans — and if you don’t, it might be worth weighing up whether it’s worth it for your family.

Food and Picnics

Picnics are welcome, but need to be eaten at the picnic benches provided rather than out on the garden lawns. If you’d rather not pack a lunch, the on-site cafe sells kids’ lunch boxes, sweet treats and light lunches, so you’re covered either way.
