Why it’s coming to the town centre

This is part of a partnership between West Northamptonshire Council and Planetarium Go, bringing science, tech and entertainment right into the centre of Northampton.

Cllr James Petter said the council is “thrilled to welcome Planetarium Go! to Northampton Market Square” and called it the kind of “creative activity that supports our local economy” and “brings families into the town centre”.

In other words, it’s not just about a fun family experience. It’s also about boosting footfall for the town centre and supporting local businesses around the square.

Why Northampton?

osé Jiménez, CEO of Planetarium Go, said “we are delighted to be partnering with West Northamptonshire Council” and shared that they chose Northampton for “its central UK location and its impressive Market Square”.

He also said the council has been “incredibly supportive” in helping make the event happen, and that they’re keen to work closely with local businesses and market traders so it delivers real community benefit.

What to expect on the day

An immersive dome experience
You’re not watching a film in front of you. You’re surrounded. It’s designed to feel like an “unforgettable journey through space”, with everything projected across the 360º screen.

Short sessions that work well for families
Because the films are 20 to 30 minutes, it’s an easier yes than a long theatre show, especially if you’re trying something new with younger kids.

A STEM-friendly day out
The council specifically mentions this brings STEM subjects to life for families and schools, so it’s a nice option if your child loves “how things work” experiences.

Tickets and booking

At the time of writing, Planetarium Go UK lists Northampton as “coming soon”. That usually means booking pages and exact ticket options are likely to go live closer to the date. Your best move is to keep an eye on the Planetarium Go UK website and the council announcement for updates.
