Outdoor Cinema Day at Delapré Abbey: Beauty & The Beast, Tangled and Bohemian Rhapsody This August

If you’re after a proper “grab a blanket and a bottle of something nice” summer evening (or morning, or afternoon – keep reading!), I’ve got a treat for you. Delapré Abbey is turning into an outdoor cinema for the day on Sunday 2nd August, with not one but three screenings back to back. Whether you fancy a family morning with the little ones or a big singalong evening with friends, there’s an option that’ll fit your day perfectly.

Beauty & The Beast (1991) – Morning Screening

Kicking things off is the one every princess-obsessed little one in your house will want to see. Doors open at 10:30am with the film starting at 11:30am, running through to around 1pm – so it’s a proper morning-into-lunchtime outing, perfect if you don’t want to be out too late with younger children.

Tangled – Afternoon Screening

Next up in the afternoon is Tangled, so if your crew are more “Flynn Rider” than “Beast,” this one’s for you. It starts at 2pm, giving you time for a lazy morning at home before heading over. Expect plenty of sing-along moments if “When Will My Life Begin” and “I See the Light” are already on repeat in your house.

Bohemian Rhapsody – Evening Screening

Rounding off the day is one for the grown-ups (or older teens) – Bohemian Rhapsody, with gates open from 5:30pm and the film starting at 6:30pm. This is a lovely one to make a proper evening of, with a picnic and a chance to watch the sun go down over the Abbey grounds before the film gets going. Do note this one carries a 12 certificate, so it’s worth bearing that in mind for younger family members.

What to Bring

Outdoor cinema screenings are all about getting comfortable, so bring blankets, low-back chairs if you have them, and layers – even in August, evenings can turn chilly once the sun dips. A picnic is very much encouraged too, so pack up your favourite snacks and settle in for the show. Do check the individual ticket pages for specifics on food, drink and parking, as these can vary by screening.
