Canons Ashby is running Nature Explorer Tuesdays right through August, and it’s exactly the kind of low-key, outdoorsy activity that’s perfect for using up energy without needing a big budget or a busy itinerary.

What’s On

Every Tuesday in August, from 11am to 2pm, Canons Ashby is putting on activities connected to nature and the great outdoors. Think wild art and wildlife spotting, with something a little different to try each week. Cost and Booking

No booking is needed, so it’s an easy one to fit in around nap times, other plans, or the great British weather. The activities themselves are free, but normal admission to Canons Ashby applies, and some of the activities may carry a small extra fee to join in. If you’re a National Trust member, this is a brilliant way to make the most of your membership over the summer holidays.

Good to Know Before You Go

Start your visit at Visitor Reception, where the team will point you in the direction of the activities. The ground can be uneven and muddy underfoot, so wellies or sturdy shoes are a good shout, and it’s worth dressing for the weather since this is very much an outdoor activity. One thing worth flagging if you have little ones sensitive to noise: on days when Hapa Zome printing is happening, there’s some hammering involved, so it can get a bit loud.

Canons Ashby is just outside Daventry, so it’s a nice one for families across the west of the county, and easy enough to combine with a wander round the wider estate afterwards.
