SUMMARY:Pumpkin Picking at Saxby's Farm\, Farndish
DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again when jumpers come out\, the leaves turn gold\, and pumpkin patches start popping up across the county. Saxby’s Farm in Farndish is opening its pumpkin patch again this October\, and if last year’s glowing reviews are anything to go by\, it’s one of the best PYO days out around. \n\n\n\nWhen Is It On?\n\n\n\nThis one’s important\, so please note it’s not open every day in October. The pumpkin patch is only open across three weekends: \n\n\n\n\nSaturday 10th and Sunday 11th October\n\n\n\nSaturday 17th and Sunday 18th October\n\n\n\nSaturday 24th and Sunday 25th October\n\n\n\n\nYou’ll need to book a two-hour arrival window\, but once you’re in\, you’re welcome to stay and enjoy the day for as long as you like. \n\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\nWhat to Expect\n\n\n\nTickets are £5 and that covers parking for one car plus entry for everyone travelling with you — you then simply pay for whichever pumpkins you pick along the way. Grab a wheelbarrow\, put your wellies on\, and let the kids loose to find the perfect one to take home. \n\n\n\nSaxby’s Cider bar and shop will be open on site\, with hot food\, teas\, coffees and soft drinks available\, plus some gentle amusements to keep little ones entertained. If you fancy exploring a bit further\, there’s a trailer ride around the pumpkins and orchards (weather permitting) for a small extra charge\, and there’s no need to book this one in advance. \n\n\n\nThe alpacas from Watermeadow Park will also be joining on site\, with an Alpaca Walk or Alpaca Tea Party available for an extra charge. These need to be booked directly with Watermeadow Park rather than through Saxby’s\, so head to their website to secure your slot. There’s also the option to feed the alpacas for a small donation. \n\n\n\nWell-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the bar and food area\, though they’ll need to stay out of the pumpkin patch itself\, so do remember your poo bags. \n\n\n\nGood to Know\n\n\n\nYou’ll find the pumpkin patch at Grange Farm\, Irchester Road\, Farndish\, Wellingborough\, NN29 7HJ. It’s worth noting the field entrance is on Irchester Road on the Wollaston side of Farndish\, and there’s no entry via the cider yard — the what3words reference for the pumpkin patch entrance is ///arise.kingpin.sleeps if you want to pop that straight into your maps app. \n\n\n\nTickets are booked online in advance and tend to go on sale until close to each date\, but with three popular weekends and limited slots\, I wouldn’t leave it too late to book. \n\n\n\nThis event is run by a third-party organiser\, and all details were correct at the time of publication\, based on information from Saxby’s Farm’s official booking page. Please check directly with the venue before travelling in case of any changes. \n\n\n\nIf you’re planning your autumn diary\, it’s always worth checking my weekly what’s on newsletter too\, so you don’t miss any other seasonal events popping up across the county. And if you’re after more ideas for days out with the family\, my guide to things to do in Northamptonshire for families is a good place to start.

SUMMARY:Pumpkin Picking\, a Party Night and a Ghost Hunt at West Lodge Farm Park
DESCRIPTION:If you’re after a proper autumn day out this October\, I’ve got a good one for you. \n\n\n\nWest Lodge Farm Park in Desborough has three separate Halloween events running this year — a month-long daytime festival\, an evening party\, and a torchlit ghost hunt. Here’s what’s on with each one. \n\n\n\nPumpkin Patch Festival\n\n\n\nRunning from 10th to 31st October\, this is the daytime version — perfect for younger ones and for fitting around nap times. You collect a Pumpkin Passport on arrival\, then set off around the farm to find your favourite pumpkin from the thousands on offer\, hop on the fun and bumpy Spooky Tractor Ride (small extra charge applies)\, and have a go at crafting your own magical wand. \n\n\n\nThere’s also plenty to spot along the way\, including a run through the Scarecrow Patch\, a creep through the Cobweb Tunnel\, and panto-style ghost stories that are designed to be funny rather than frightening\, so should suit even the more cautious little ones. \n\n\n\nPumpkin Patch Festival details\nDates: 10th–31st October\nTimes: 9:30am–6pm daily\nPumpkins are individually priced\, with a small extra charge for the Spooky Tractor Ride \n\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\nPumpkin Party Night\n\n\n\nIf you’d rather do Halloween after dark\, the Pumpkin Party Night on 23rd October is a one-off evening event where the farm’s pumpkin patch gets transformed with lighting for the occasion. Expect fire performers\, live music\, street food\, and a wander through the illuminated patch\, plus appearances throughout the evening from Bert the Troll. \n\n\n\nTickets also include access to the indoor adventure play\, so there’s somewhere to warm up if the evening turns chilly. \n\n\n\nPumpkin Party Night details\nDate: 23rd October only\nTime: 5pm–9pm\nIncluded: fire entertainment\, live music\, appearances from Bert the Troll\, illuminated Pumpkin Patch\, street food\, indoor adventure play \n\n\n\nGhost Hunt by Torchlight\n\n\n\nFor families who want something a little braver\, the Ghost Hunt by Torchlight sends you out around the farm after dark\, armed with a torch\, to track down the Ghosts of West Lodge Past hidden around the site. It’s pitched as full of atmosphere and adventure without being too frightening for younger ghost hunters. \n\n\n\nThis is one of West Lodge’s most popular events and sells out every year\, so if it’s on your list\, I’d book sooner rather than later. \n\n\n\nGhost Hunt by Torchlight details\nDate: 30th October only\nTime: 6pm–9pm\nNote: sells out every year — early booking recommended \n\n\n\nGood to know\n\n\n\nWest Lodge Farm Park is at Back Lane\, Desborough\, Kettering\, Northamptonshire\, NN14 2SH. Tickets for all three events went on sale from 28th August at 7pm\, so I’d book ahead rather than risk turning up on the day\, particularly for the Pumpkin Party Night and Ghost Hunt\, since both run once only. \n\n\n\nIf you’re after more autumn inspiration\, I’ve rounded up a much wider list of things to do in Northamptonshire with the family\, and if you’d like events like this landing in your inbox each week\, my weekly newsletter is the easiest way to keep on top of what’s on.

SUMMARY:Brick or Treat at LEGOLAND Windsor
DESCRIPTION:If you fancy making a proper day of it this Halloween\, LEGOLAND Windsor’s Brick or Treat is running on selected dates from 10 October\, and the LEGO Monsters are billing it as their biggest Halloween party yet. Brick or Treat at LEGOLAND Windsor is a Halloween event built for kids\, with live shows\, monster-themed fun and more than 55 rides and attractions open across the resort. \n\n\n\nIt’s not exactly on our doorstep\, as LEGOLAND Windsor Resort is in Berkshire\, but the main run of dates\, 17 October to 1 November\, takes in the October half term. That makes it a good option if you’re happy to travel for a bigger day out\, or even a night away. Here’s what I’ve found out about what’s included. \n\n\n\nWhat’s on at Brick or Treat\n\n\n\nThe whole resort is transformed with spooky LEGO theming and Halloween decor\, and all of the Halloween entertainment is included in your ticket. Here’s what to look out for: \n\n\n\n\nHaunted House Monster Party: turn the house upside down at this Halloween party\n\n\n\nLord Vampyre’s House Party: a dance show that’s returning for 2026\n\n\n\nMonster Jam: a show where you can rock out with the monsters\n\n\n\nDisco Dragon: a disco takes over The Dragon\n\n\n\nCharacter meet and greets: meet new characters alongside your favourite Brick or Treat monsters\n\n\n\nPhoto opportunities: themed photo spots across the resort\n\n\n\nRides and attractions: more than 55 to enjoy on the day\n\n\n\n\nBook Here\n\n\n\nBrick or Treat dates and tickets\n\n\n\n\nDates: 10 and 11 October\, then 17 October to 1 November\n\n\n\nTickets: from £37 per person with the Brick or Treat Online Saver\n\n\n\nWhere: LEGOLAND Windsor Resort\, Winkfield Road\, Windsor\, Berkshire\, SL4 4AY\n\n\n\n\nLEGOLAND says you’ll save by booking your Halloween tickets in advance\, so I’d book ahead rather than turn up on the day. Tickets and dates are on the LEGOLAND Windsor website. If you’re a LEGOLAND Annual Passholder\, you can pre-book access to Brick or Treat too. \n\n\n\nDo you need to wear a costume?\n\n\n\nCostumes are welcome and encouraged\, especially for the little ones. They do need to be family-friendly\, and full costume face masks and imitation weapons aren’t allowed\, so it’s worth bearing that in mind before you buy or make the outfits. \n\n\n\nIs Brick or Treat suitable for toddlers?\n\n\n\nAccording to LEGOLAND\, yes. It’s designed as a family-friendly Halloween event with age-appropriate activities\, gentle rides and entertainment for younger guests\, so it isn’t just one for the bigger kids. \n\n\n\nBook Here\n\n\n\nWill all the rides be open?\n\n\n\nThe rides and attractions will be open\, but some may run on a seasonal schedule. Before you go\, check the ride availability page or download the LEGOLAND Windsor app so you know what to expect on the day. \n\n\n\nMake it a Halloween short break\n\n\n\nIf a long day plus the journey home sounds like a lot\, LEGOLAND also offers Halloween short breaks. Every package includes an overnight hotel stay with breakfast and one day of theme park access. Prices start from £123 per person\, based on two adults and two children sharing a Woodland Village Lodge for one night\, including one-day tickets and subject to availability. Stay at one of the on-site hotels and you also get an early ride time and a free LEGOLAND gift in your room. \n\n\n\nBrick or Treat is one of the bigger Halloween days out if you’re happy to travel\, but if you’d rather stay closer to home this half term\, my Halloween section is full of spooky events across Northamptonshire. You can also sign up to my weekly newsletter so you never miss what’s on. \n\n\n\nThe event listed in this article is run by a third-party organiser\, and all details were correct at the time of publication\, based on information from their official website. However\, changes or cancellations can happen at short notice. To avoid any disappointment\, we recommend double-checking the event information on the official website before making plans. \n\n\n\nPlease note: Northants Families is supported by it’s audience. When you purchase through one of our links we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

SUMMARY:Halloween Half-Term at Wicksteed Park
DESCRIPTION:Half term is creeping up again and if you’re after a plan that ticks off rides\, spooky fun and tired-out kids in one go\, this one’s for you. \n\n\n\nWicksteed Park’s Halloween Half-Term is back\, running from Saturday 24th October right through to Sunday 1st November 2026\, and it’s one of those days out that genuinely covers all bases. Little ones\, bigger kids\, and anyone who fancies a proper Halloween atmosphere without travelling too far are all catered for\, and if you can’t wait until half term\, Halloween Haunt opens on the October weekends too. \n\n\n\nWhen it’s on\n\n\n\n\nDates: Saturday 24th October to Sunday 1st November 2026\n\n\n\nTime: 10:30am to 4pm\n\n\n\nLocation: Wicksteed Park\, Barton Road\, Kettering\, NN15 6NJ\n\n\n\n\nHalloween Haunt on October weekends\n\n\n\nHalloween Haunt also runs on the October weekends before half term\, so it’s a good option if your half-term week is already filling up. \n\n\n\n\nDates: Saturday 10th\, Sunday 11th\, Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October 2026\n\n\n\nTime: 10:30am to 4pm\n\n\n\nWristbands: same prices as half term (see below)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet Mr and Mrs Halloween\n\n\n\nThis year Halloween Haunt is back with Chapter 3: The Legends\, created in partnership with Halloween House Entertainment. The people behind it are local husband-and-wife team Steve and Kat Richardson\, better known as Mr and Mrs Halloween\, who fittingly live in the original Cemetery House in Rushden. Their collection of Halloween props\, collectibles and animatronics is thought to be the biggest in the country\, at around 2\,000 items gathered over more than ten years. \n\n\n\nInside Halloween Haunt Chapter 3\n\n\n\nHalloween Haunt is thought to be the only family-friendly interactive Halloween walkthrough in the UK\, and your wristband gets you two walkthroughs in one. The main 200ft walkthrough features wicked witches\, spooky skeletons\, creepy ghosts and a condemned zombie laboratory\, alongside a 10-foot animatronic reaper\, vampires\, werewolves and spiders. The Legends theme also brings in classic Halloween monsters and special guests like Frankenstein and the Mummy\, plus a few extra jump scares. \n\n\n\nIf you’ve got younger or more nervous children\, there’s a mini walkthrough just for them\, as well as I-Spy games for children and adults and information boards about the legends of Halloween. The main walkthrough is fully wheelchair accessible. \n\n\n\nWhat’s included\n\n\n\nYour wristband covers unlimited access to all open rides plus admission to Halloween Haunt Chapter 3. During half term you’ll also get Zoolab’s spooky potions show in Wicky Bear’s Theatre\, and the first weekend of half term kicks off with the Halloween Craft and Readers Fair. There’s also an outdoor trail to solve a mystery around the park\, which is a nice way to get everyone moving between rides. \n\n\n\nRides open include Astroslide\, Treetop Walk\, Rocking Tug\, Clown Coaster\, Wicky’s Mini Farmyard\, Pig N Putt\, Roundabout\, Cups and Saucers\, Lighthouse\, Carousel\, Sway Rider and the Wicksteed Railway. \n\n\n\nPrices\n\n\n\n\nChildren under 16: £16\n\n\n\nAdults: £10\n\n\n\nChildren under 0.9m: free with a paying adult\n\n\n\n\nWicksteed Park’s usual parking charges apply on top of your wristband. Wristbands can be booked online in advance directly through Wicksteed Park\, and with half term always being a popular time to visit\, I’d get yours sorted sooner rather than later. \n\n\n\nAll rides open this weekend\n\n\n\nIf you fancy one last go on everything before the Halloween line-up takes over\, all of Wicksteed Park’s ride areas and attractions are open on the first weekend of October\, the last chance to enjoy them all this year. Wristbands bought on the day at the park are £22\, the same as the online price. \n\n\n\nIf Wicksteed Park is already a regular on your list\, you might remember that Wicky Bear recently picked up a lifetime achievement award for 25 years of greeting families through the gates\, so keep an eye out for him while you’re there. For more half-term ideas across the county\, take a look at my guide to things to do in Northamptonshire for families\, or sign up to my weekly newsletter so you never miss what’s on. \n\n\n\nThe events listed in this guide are run by third-party organisers\, and all details were correct at the time of publication\, based on information from their official websites. However\, changes or cancellations can happen at short notice. To avoid any disappointment\, we recommend double-checking the event information on the official websites before making plans.
