Easy Halloween Arts and Crafts for Kids
Halloween is just around the corner, and what better way to get into the spooky spirit than with some creative arts and crafts? Whether your children are pumpkin-obsessed, witch-mad, or simply love getting messy with glue and glitter, these easy Halloween arts and crafts for kids are the perfect way to spend an autumn afternoon.
The best part? Most of these activities use things you probably already have at home – so no need for endless shopping trips. Just grab your paints, paper, and imagination, and let’s get spooky!
Paper Plate Pumpkins
Paper plates make a brilliant base for little hands to decorate. Paint them orange, add googly eyes, cut out a spooky mouth from black paper, and you’ve got an instant jack-o’-lantern. For an extra touch, stick a green pipe cleaner at the top as the stalk.
Ghostly Handprints
This one is perfect for toddlers and younger children. Simply dip their hands in white paint and press them onto black card. Once it dries, turn the handprints upside down so the fingers become the ghost’s wavy “tail,” then add spooky eyes with a marker or stickers.
Toilet Roll Tube Bats
Save up those empty loo rolls! Paint them black, fold down the top edges to create bat ears, and attach paper wings. Add some big eyes (the sillier the better!) and you’ll have a whole colony of bats hanging around the house.
Pumpkin Decorating
Decorating a pumpkin doesn’t necessarily mean cutting and carving. Keeping it simple is ideal for younger kids, just give them a paintbrush and set them to work!
Spider Web Decorations
Grab some black card, cut out a circle, and let your child weave white wool or string across it to create a web. Stick on a little paper or pom-pom spider, and you’ve got a creepy decoration for the wall or window.
Pumpkin Sun Catchers
Cut out a pumpkin shape from black card and glue tissue paper scraps in orange, yellow, and red to the middle. Once it’s dry, stick it to a sunny window and watch the colours glow. A lovely autumn craft that doubles as festive décor!
Keep the Fun Going
Crafting isn’t just about the end result – it’s about the giggles, the sticky fingers, and the memories made along the way. So let the kids take the lead, embrace the mess, and proudly display their spooky creations around your home this Halloween.
