Dinosaur Day is Coming to Deene Park
Deene Park is welcoming a whole pack of prehistoric visitors to its beautiful gardens this summer, and it sounds like exactly the kind of low-key, high-fun outing that’s perfect for filling one of those long summer holiday days.
What is Dinosaur Day at Deene Park?
On Thursday 20th August, from 11am to 3pm, the East Lawn at Deene Park will be taken over by Reggie the Raptor and a whole gang of baby dinosaurs, along with Rex the T-Rex, Sparkles the Stegosaurus, and Trixie the Triceratops. It’s a Jurassic-themed encounter running in partnership with Just That Company, and it’s aimed squarely at families who fancy a different kind of day out this summer.
Brave visitors will get the chance to brush a dinosaur’s teeth (if they dare) or have their hair styled by a Velociraptor. There’s also a mini excavation pit for budding paleontologists, plus games, story time, and creative play to keep everyone busy between dino encounters.
Tickets and Prices
- Children 0-15 years: FREE (but a ticket must still be booked for every child attending)
- Adults 16+: £10.48 (includes a booking fee, capped at £6.00)
- Historic Houses Members: Free entry with a valid membership card
A couple of important booking notes: every child ticket needs to be paired with at least one Adult or Historic Houses Member ticket, and RHS membership isn’t valid for this particular event. Pre-booking is recommended as tickets can sell out, though they will also be available on the day if there’s availability.
Good to Know Before You Go
This is a garden-only event, so the historic house itself won’t be open, but the tearoom will be serving up tea, cakes, and ice cream if you fancy a treat afterwards. You’re welcome to bring a picnic, camping chairs, and picnic blankets to make a full day of it on the lawn (just no BBQs). The event will go ahead rain or shine, so it’s worth packing a pop-up sunshade for the little ones just in case the sun makes an appearance.
You’ll find the event at the Porters Lodge Visitor Entrance, Stamford Road, Deene, Corby, Northamptonshire, NN17 3EG.
The events listed in this guide are run by third-party organisers, and all details were correct at the time of publication, based on information from their official websites.
