Alice in Wonderland is Coming to Lamport Hall This August

If you’re after something a bit different to do with the kids this August, I think I’ve found it. Pitch Up Theatre is bringing Alice in Wonderland to the Walled Garden at Lamport Hall for one evening only, and it sounds like exactly the kind of summer evening that turns into a lovely family memory.

When and where

The show takes place on Friday 7th August, with doors opening at 4pm for a 4:30pm start, running until 5:30pm. It’s being held in the Walled Garden at Lamport Hall, Lamport, Northamptonshire, NN6 9HD.

Because it’s an outdoor performance, you’re encouraged to bring along a picnic and settle in for what should be a peaceful summer’s evening in one of Northamptonshire’s prettiest gardens.

What’s the show about

This is a fresh, interactive take on the classic story. You’ll follow Alice down the rabbit hole to meet the clever caterpillar, join the tea party with the wonderfully chaotic Hatter, and even become part of the action yourselves as Alice takes on the Queen of Hearts in a thoroughly ridiculous game of croquet. It’s billed as fun for all the family, and with the audience invited to get involved, it sounds like a brilliant one for kids who love a bit of imaginative play alongside their theatre.

Pitch Up Theatre describe their mission as bringing “the magic of live theatre anywhere,” and an outdoor summer setting like the Walled Garden feels like the perfect place for that.

Tickets

Tickets can be booked directly through Lamport Hall’s booking page. I’d recommend booking ahead, as outdoor family theatre evenings like this tend to be popular once word gets round.

If you’ve never been to Lamport Hall before, it’s a gorgeous spot for a family day out generally, not just for events like this one – they also have a fun gnome trail.

And if you’ve got little ones who love exploring gardens, it could be worth printing off my free nature scavenger hunt to take along with you – a lovely way to fill the time before the show starts while you’re getting the picnic set up.
