Halloween Steam Train Rides at Northampton & Lamport Railway

If your lot love anything with a whistle and a puff of steam, you can add this one to the list. Northampton & Lamport Railway is running two spooky train experiences this Halloween, so whether you fancy a daytime family outing or something a bit more atmospheric after dark, there’s an option to suit.

What’s on

There are two separate Halloween ticket options running at the railway’s Pitsford & Brampton Station near Chapel Brampton:

  • Hocus Pocus “Open Day” — Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November
  • Eerie Night Express — Saturday 31 October only, an evening train ride

Both experiences include a return train ride in a heated, authentic coach hauled by a historic steam locomotive through the Northamptonshire countryside, with the station and coaches decorated for Halloween. Fancy dress is welcome for kids and grown-ups, though it’s not required. There’s a souvenir shop at the station and the Platform 3 Buffet serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and freshly made hot food, plus a pub next to both Pitsford & Brampton and Boughton stations if you fancy a pre or post-ride treat. On the Open Day, there’s also the option of a stroll along the Brampton Valley Way, right next to the stations.

Dogs are welcome on board too, as long as owners clean up after them and keep them off the seats.

Pricing is the same across both the Open Day and the Eerie Night Express, and it’s cheaper to book online in advance:
