The Jungle Book Comes to Canons Ashby
Immersion Theatre are bringing their outdoor production of The Jungle Book to Canons Ashby near Daventry, and it looks like exactly the sort of picnic-blanket, golden-hour evening that makes the summer holidays feel special.
What’s the show about?
It’s a musical adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale, packed with original songs, audience interaction and larger-than-life characters. Your little ones will get to follow Mowgli, Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther as they take on a slithering snake, some cheeky monkeys and the fierce tiger Shere Khan. It’s billed as funny, exciting and “wildly entertaining” — basically a proper family treat, and it’s recommended for ages 4 and up.
When and where
The performance takes place in the Paddock at Canons Ashby, near Daventry, on Saturday 1st August 2026, running from 5.30pm to 7.15pm. Head to the main visitor car park when you arrive — you might be directed to the overflow — and then follow the signs to the paddock.
What to bring
This is proper outdoor theatre, so bring a picnic, blankets and picnic chairs to make yourselves comfortable. Dress for whatever the weather decides to do on the day, as the show goes ahead rain or shine unless it’s genuinely unsafe to continue (in which case it’ll be rescheduled). It’s also worth remembering that it can get chilly once the evening sets in, even in August, so pack a few extra layers just in case.
The tea kiosk will be open before the performance and through the interval if you fancy a snack, drink or ice cream, and the shop is open until 5pm, so arrive a little early if you want to have a browse.
Ticket prices
Tickets are £16.00 for adults and £11.00 for children aged 3 to 17. Little ones aged 0 to 2 go free, as does a carer accompanying a ticket holder. Booking in advance is essential, so I’d get in there sooner rather than later, especially as there’s only one date on offer.
Accessibility
Good to know if this affects your family: the paddock is accessed over uneven grass, and there’s an accessible ambulant portaloo near the stage. Do ask for accessible parking when you arrive. Please note dogs aren’t permitted, aside from assistance dogs.
