Northampton Carnival 2026
If you’re looking for a brilliant free day out this weekend, I’ve got something that should go straight to the top of your list. Northampton Carnival is back on Saturday 13 June 2026, and it looks set to be a real celebration of community, colour and culture. Whether you’ve been before or this will be your first time, it’s one of those events that genuinely gets the whole family buzzing — and the best bit? It’s completely free to attend.
Northampton Carnival 2026: Unity in Masquerade
This year’s theme is Unity in Masquerade — Many Stories, One Parade, and it’s been chosen to bring hope and togetherness to the community. There’s something really special about watching a parade come through your town and knowing that every float, every performer, every costume tells a different story — but they’re all part of the same celebration.
When and Where
The carnival takes place at Racecourse Park, Northampton, NN1 4LG, starting at 12:00 noon and running until 7:30pm. That’s a brilliant stretch of time — you could head down in the afternoon once the little ones are fed and ready, or make a proper day of it and arrive for the start.
What to Expect
Northampton Carnival is a vibrant celebration of cultural arts, featuring a parade through the town with groups, schools, businesses, families and performers all taking part. You can expect colourful floats, live music, dance performances on the main stage, and the kind of atmosphere that reminds you why community events matter so much.
Racecourse Park itself is a wonderful setting — a huge open green space right in the heart of Northampton, so there’s plenty of room to spread out, find a spot to watch the parade, and let the kids run around. If you want to make the most of being outdoors with the family, you might also want to grab our free nature scavenger hunt to keep little ones entertained while you’re out and about.
Get Involved
One of the things I love about this event is that it’s not just something you watch — it’s something you can be part of. If you’re in a group, school, business or even just a family who’d like to join the parade, or if you want to run a stall or perform on the main stage, there are registration forms available on the Northampton Carnival website. Worth checking even if you just want to stay in the loop with updates.
