BBQ ribs being basted on a smoker, a platter of smoked meats, friends gathered around a garden BBQ, and a pizza cooking in a wood-fired oven

Free BBQ Bonanza at Bell of Northampton This Saturday – Tastings, Live Cooking and Expert Tips

Right, I don’t know about you, but the second the weather starts to hint at something warmer, my brain immediately goes to food outside. There’s something about eating in the garden that just makes everything taste better! So when I heard about this event happening this Saturday in Northampton, I knew I had to share it straight away — and the best bit? It’s completely free.

Destination store Bell of Northampton is helping shoppers fire up their imagination ahead of the barbecue season with the launch of its Big BBQ Bonanza experience.

Expert chefs from leading BBQ brands including Traeger, Clementi, Gozney and Weber will be showcasing their signature styles of outdoor cooking — from low-and-slow smoking to flame-grilled perfection and wood-fired pizza — providing perfect BBQ inspiration for families as the weather hots up.

Customers will be able to ask questions, pick up tips and taste delicious samples during the range of live cooking sessions.

Joe Buckley from The Tollemache Arms will also be cooking up a taste sensation on the Kamado Joe while Clementi will be bringing a traditional Italian pizzaiolo who is travelling from Italy especially for the event. Customers will be able to see authentic wood-fired pizzas being stretched and cooked, while also tasting the results, providing the perfect inspiration for those thinking about adding a pizza oven to their garden.

The free to attend event takes place from 11am–3pm on Saturday 28th March at the store’s Kingsthorpe Road premises.

“We are really excited about kickstarting the BBQ season with the launch of our Big BBQ Bonanza experience,” said Tammy Pell, marketing and events co-ordinator at Bell. “The day promises to provide customers with plenty of ideas and inspiration when it comes to choosing and getting the best out of their grill.

“On the day, our guest chefs will also be cooking up a storm using the wide selection of BBQ grills and accessories we have here at Bell, allowing customers to really see and taste the difference between the different grills.

“Those visiting can make use of special on-the-day offers across the Bell BBQ Shop and will also leave with plenty of hints, tips and inspiration, ready for when the warmer weather starts.

“It’s a free-to-attend event, so gather your foodie friends and register now to join us for a sizzling day of food, flames and BBQ inspiration!”

This feels like one of those events that’s worth popping in your diary right now before the weekend sneaks up on you. It’s the kind of thing the kids will love too — free food, flames, and watching a proper Italian pizza chef do his thing? That’s a pretty good Saturday morning in my book. It’s free, it’s local, and it gets you in the mood for all those long garden evenings that are (fingers crossed) just around the corner.
